Chris Hemsworth has a serious message for all of those actors out there who starred in the MCU but trashed it when things didn’t work out for them.
Chris Hemsworth has been in the superhero genre for as long as one can remember, thanks to the iconic role of Thor in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that he first donned back in 2011 for his titular movie. And he has been incredibly loyal to it, for one, considering how even a movie like Thor: Love and Thunder didn’t lead him to lash out at the MCU.

But while he is humble enough to act that way, multiple other actors from Marvel are not quite the same, and this fact greatly bothers the Extraction star. That being said, Hemsworth has a serious message to give to all of those other actors who went ahead to trash the saga after things went wrong with their superhero movies.
Chris Hemsworth’s Message to Actors Who Bashed MCU
Throughout his run as Thor Odinson in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Hemsworth has faced both tremendous successes that fans just can’t get over and bitter failures that left a sour taste behind. And yet, he never trashed the superhero franchise when things went wrong, as compared to many others who did.
This is why the Thor: Love and Thunder actor has something to say to all those who bashed the MCU after their superhero movies fell short. During a recent interview with The Times, he expressed just how much these things “bother” him to the core because he has been through all of that and knows how it works.
“It’s, like, ‘They’re films that are successful — put me in one. Oh, mine didn’t work? I’ll bash them.’ Look, I grew up on a soap opera. And it used to bother me when actors would later talk about the show with guilt or shame. Humility goes a long way.”

Continuing, he further expressed how all of these wins and losses are “all a lesson,” saying:
“One of the older actors on Home and Away said, ‘We don’t get paid to make the good lines sound good, but to make the bad ones work.’ That stuck with me. But hey, it’s all a lesson. And if I ever went back to [Thor] I’d wonder how we could change it again.”
To put it in a nutshell, the Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga actor only ever wants people to learn from their losses instead of going ahead and trashing the superhero franchise for their movie’s failure.
That being said, this prominent message from Chris Hemsworth is for quite a few actors who scored a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s superhero saga but were utterly disappointed when their movies failed to perform as epically as others’ did.
Actors Who Trashed the MCU After Their Films Didn’t Work
Surprisingly enough, while comments from the outsiders who never joined the superhero league are one thing, even those actors who earned their superhero movies didn’t hesitate to slam the franchise when things didn’t exactly go their way. And this most certainly includes quite a few actors, to say the least.
First off, there’s Terrence Howard, who starred as James “Rhodey” Rhodes in his first and last Marvel movie, Iron Man (2008). However, even though the movie became massively successful, he faced issues with the remuneration for it and ended up leaving the saga. Since then, he has gone around saying, “Worst thing I witnessed was ‘Iron Man’ killing my career.” (Via NBC News.)

Then there’s Idris Elba, who starred as the fan-favorite Heimdall in Thor’s lore but ended up losing his life after Thanos invaded their ship in Avengers: Infinity War. However, what’s stunning is that Elba found it to be a “torture” to shoot those Marvel movies, as he claimed during an interview with The Telegraph.
Adding to this list is Mickey Rourke, who played the primary antagonist Whiplash in Iron Man 2. According to what the actor himself shared during an appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers (via NBC.com): “I’m not a Marvel fan. I did, once, a movie for Marvel … and they cut the whole f—ing thing out.”

Besides them, there’s Christopher Eccleston, who played Malekith in Thor: The Dark World and seemingly didn’t enjoy the experience. As he shared in an interview with The Guardian: “And Thor? Just a gun in your mouth. Gone in 60 Seconds was a good experience. Nic Cage is a gentleman and a fantastic actor. But GI Joe and Thor were … I really paid for being a whore those times.”
Needless to say, all of these actors most certainly had a lot of issues with how things went around in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and ended up complaining about it right after as well. That being said, Chris Hemsworth’s worthy piece of message about learning from their failures instead of complaining about it is for them for sure!
