Due to an injury, Sofyan Amrabat had to withdraw from the Moroccan team.
The 27-year-old left earlier this week to join up with his national squad despite Manchester United discovering a minor back issue during his physical. Amrabat joined the Red Devils on deadline day in a season-long loan deal from Fiorentina, marking the club’s first defensive midfielder signing.
Erik ten Hag’s team will pay Fiorentina £8.5 million to borrow Amrabat, with the option to purchase the transfer for £21.5 million next summer. Following the arrivals of goalkeeper Altay Bayindir, left-back Sergio Reguilon, and center-back Jonny Evans, he was United’s fourth and final deadline-day acquisition.
Amrabat had a “minor back injury” discovered by United personnel during his physical, but the deal was nonetheless approved since they did not consider it to be significant. Although United was able to include Bayindir, Reguilon, and Evans in their match against Arsenal last Sunday, Amrabat was not registered in time to play.
Amrabat then made the decision to fly to Morocco’s training camp ahead of Saturday’s qualification against Liberia and next Tuesday’s friendly against Burkina Faso. However, he won’t participate in either of both games as Yahya Jabrane took his position in Walid Regragui’s squad.
Before United’s first Premier League game following the break, it is unknown if Amrabat will return immediately to Manchester to continue his recovery. Four days before Ten Hag’s team plays Bayern Munich in the Champions League, on September 16, Amrabat might make his Premier League debut against Brighton.
Amrabat stated this week: “I can promise that I will give my best with everything; every day, every minute, and every second. I want to show it on the pitch, but I can also promise that I will do so.” This was spoken after Amrabat joined United. Thus, it is the only thing I can say at this time.

When asked about Ten Hag, Amrabat stated, “He [Ten Hag] offered me the chance to play in the first team with Utrecht when I was 18, 19 years old. “We had a great time and a great season. He taught me a lot of things. He may therefore currently rank among the most significant individuals in my career.
